Why Choose Dr. Sohail Shayfer, MD?
Experienced Surgeon | Compassionate and personalized care | Conservative approach | In-house digital X-ray, ultrasound, and regenerative medicine |
My Philosophy
At a time when medicine is increasingly managed by corporations and institutions, I have chosen to practice medicine the way I was trained, with the understanding that compassion, expertise, and quality are the cornerstones of healthcare. My mentor in residency, Michael Goldberg called himself an orthopaedist and not an orthopaedic surgeon. That title still resonates with me as I think of myself as an expert in anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Surgery is only one of the tools I use to treat patients. Indeed more than 90% of my patients are treated without surgery.
I understand that the people who seek treatment are in pain and are looking for guidance. Great emphasis is placed for each patient to get a proper examination and testing so that the right diagnosis is made thus allowing the correct course of treatment. Surgery is only suggested after all other options have been exhausted. Since medicine is an evolving science and art, it may not have all of the answers. I believe in alternative approaches and keep an open mind. Incorporating these alternative disciplines such as PRP, stem cell, and shockwave therapy have enabled me to treat thousands of patients to achieve better outcomes with less risk.
